Brenda Ogutu


Brenda joined the Analyst Team in October 2018 and is working in the Project Division to structure and compose reports, do analysis on ongoing projects as well as maintain client communication and relationships.

Prior to joining Busara, Brenda worked with the City of Richmond, California, as a Graduate Student Fellow where she successfully completed an Annual Report for the Rent Program Office, using Python for quantitative analysis and conducted qualitative research to inform the formulation of regulations for the Richmond Fair Rent, Just Cause for Eviction, and Homeowner Protection Ordinance projects.

Brenda is proficient in Geographic Information System Software, Statistical Package for Social Sciences, Stata, and Python.

She holds a Master's degree in City and Regional Planning from University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor's degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Nairobi.

Prior to joining Busara, Maryam worked as an Associate Consultant at Henshaw Capital Partners. She was also an Assistant Analyst within the Macroeconomic Coordination and Strategy team in Her Majesty’s Treasury (HMT). Maryam holds a Bachelor's Degree in Economics and Finance from Brunel University. She's also pursuing her Chartered Financial Analyst certification.

She is passionate about rural & urban development and was elected the Vice President of the UN Millennium Development Goals (Now SDG) Group in Abeokuta South, Ogun State, during her National Youth Service (2015).
